One of the biggest problems with environmentalism is that many people are sympathetic, but won’t to make the sacrifices that are needed to reduce global warming. To some degree we are all guilty.
But what we must ensure is that we are not excessive in our lifestyles and that we support international efforts towards a greener planet. Let’s not pick up schoolkids in SUV vehicles, lets walk short journeys, not drive. We need to support recycling and conserve energy. On a wider scale, don’t vote for governments that refuse to sign international agreements to cut pollution.
Climate change
Certain gasses, such as carbon dioxide, in the atmosphere create a "greenhouse effect", trapping heat and keeping the Earth warm enough to sustain life as we know it. Burning fossil fuels (coal, oil, etc.) releases more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere are now the highest in 150,000 years. The 1990's was most likely the warmest decade in history, and 1998 the warmest year.

Some scientists argue that the planet’s climate change is due to the earth’s natural cycles, but when before have we pumped so many gases into the atmosphere? Surely, now the ice caps are melting, caution is the only choice to take, rather than avoiding responsibility for our actions?
